Thursday 17 August 2023....3.45pm to 7.45pm... RACING LEAGUE at Royal Windsor Racecouse, Berkshire. Jockey Frankie Dettori retires this season after a stunning career. See him here on one of his last horse race meetings. He will be there as team captain for London and The South, but not actually riding. Doors open 3pm...seven races from 5pm to 8pm... What is the Racing League? Racing League is a competition between 7 teams, who will compete over 6 midweek evenings at ARC racecourses around the country, live on ITV and Sky Sports Racing. Teams will compete against each other over 42 races, fighting for valuable points to boost them up the league table. The team with the highest number of points after the final race will become the 2023 Racing League Champions. The Teams are.... Ireland Scotland Yorkshire The North The East Wales & The West London & The South ---------- A nice and sunny day today. Windsor is a small cosy racecourse so maybe 4000 folks are here today. Easy to get from parade ring, to winners enclosure , to the winning line etc. A pair of djs are playing disco classics before the first race starts at 5pm. ITV and their pundits along with Frankie Dettori are here in the parade ring. We saw the first six races, and left just before the last race started. An enjoyable day out. ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- Thursday 17 August 2023. Very sad news that MICHAEL PARKINSON has passed away aged 88. Sir Michael Parkinson CBE was an English television presenter, broadcaster, journalist and author. He presented his television talk show Parkinson from 1971 to 1982 and from 1998 to 2007, as well as other talk shows and programmes both in the UK and internationally. He also worked in radio and was described by The Guardian as "the great British talkshow host". Those my age would remember him from his 1970s BBC1 Saturday night chat show where he would interview all the big name A-listers from the UK, USA and elsewhere. ------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- Wednesday 16 August 2023. Happy Birthday to MADONNA who is 65 today. Reports say she has started rehearsing for her tour , which starts in London on 14 Oct. That is a must see show, as Madonna is always top notch. ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- Tuesday 15 August 2023. GENERATION SEX European Tour finished in mid July. I thought Steve Jones stayed in London for a week after, but looks like he is still in London , as he was at Stamford Bridge with Paul Cook on Sunday just gone for the Chelsea game. That means he has been in London for a full month after the tour. Steve Jones and Paul Cook support Chelsea. Glen Matlock supports QPR. John Lydon supports Arsenal.
