Monday 11 September 2023.

Sunday 10 September 2023...2pm to 8pm... A nice full day out in WINDSOR including a press preview of a new restaurant. The tourists are still everywhere and a nice shopping centre full of quality stores. We saw Windsor Guildhall (built 1689) where Elton John and David Furnish got married. We sat down by The River , as the tourist boats took crowds along. I have done that a couple of times before. We walked over the bridge to Eton, where many Prime Ministers and Royals went to school. From 4pm to 6.30pm we had a press preview of the newly opened BANANA TREE. It officially opened on Monday, September 4, the award-winning chain offers both chicken and vegan options of its katsu curry, coated in crispy panko. The chain says it is the "best katsu in town" offering a "mouth-watering" sauce alongside chicken or vegan bites, Japanese rice, edamame and house pickles. The brand-new restaurant, located at the site of the former Café Rouge on Thames Street, features 116 indoor covers, and a further 86 outside. Anne Chow, Managing Director at Banana Tree, said: “We’re really excited to open a brand-new site in Windsor and can’t wait to show locals what we have to offer. They have all-day 2-for-1 cocktail offer, (2 for £14) along with an express lunch menu, means they have got something for everyone, whether they’re looking for a light lunch or a Pan-Asian Feast. Banana Tree hand-picks the best dishes from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia to feature on its menu, from soups and salads to wok-tossed noodles, stir-fries and curries, as well as South-East Asia-inspired desserts and cocktails. The full menu will be available on Deliveroo to enjoy at home and a bottomless brunch will be available every day when eating in. We had a full three course meal. We got four different starters to share including Thai Calamari , Sticky Thai Wings and Malaysian Chicken Satay Sticks. My mains were their Crispy Katsu Chicken Curry and sides which was very nice. For dessert i had banana fritters and vanilla ice-cream. A very enjoyable meal here.
