Friday 15 September 2023 MARC BOLAN ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION CONCERT at Shepherds Bush Empire. The number one Marc UK tribute act TREXTASY will be play their tribute to this glam rock legend. They will be joined by several guest vocalists and musicians who will perform those T.Rex gems. Including Marc Almond, Holly Johnson, Andy Ellison, Tony Visconti, Dana Gillespie, Howie Casey. Neal (Neal X ) Whitmore ex Sigue Sigue Sputnik and now in Marc Almonds band and Glen Matlocks band, will be on guitar duties. Holly Johnson (FGTH vocalist) is a massive fan of Marc Bolan and David Bowie. I worked front stage security for all six Frankie Goes To Hollywood shows at Hammersmith Odeon in 1985 on their debut UK tour. I was lucky to have seen the final Marc and T.Rex London show at The Rainbow in March 1977. The support band were The Damned. Six months later Marc was tragically killed in a car crash. There were many glam rock legends in the 1970s, but Marc and T.Rex were always my number one faves. Would explain why i have seen T.Rextasy around 20 times since 1992 ,which was one of their earliest gigs. Included a trek in 1997 to The Corn Exchange, Cambridge for a special Marc 20th anniversary show, where they were joined on stage by Mickey Finn and Rolan Bolan. I named my eldest son Marc, after Marc Bolan. ----------- Needless to say that i was really looking forward to this show. No sold out signs outside the venue, but all levels look pretty full. Lots of the older folks here are wearing Marc Bolan / T.Rex t-shirts. Accents from all over the UK and mainland Europe for this special one-off show. TREXTASY and guests arrived on stage at 7.45pm for two sets of 65 mins and 75 mins. As expected there is a lot of comings and goings on stage as the artists rotate. Danielz as Marc, still sings, looks and acts like a perfect Marc Bolan , and does not seem to age. Danielz sung half the songs, and the other half were sung by the guest vocalists. Dirty Pretty Strings were on for several songs and were conducted by Tony Visconti and there were male and female backing vocals who also came on for some of the songs. The main guest vocalists Marc Almond and Holly Johnson did a few songs each. It was a fantastic event.... FIRST SET Images of Marc and T.Rex on the big screen.
