Saturday 21 October 2023. TOYAH & ROBERT'S SUNDAY LUNCH live at Shepherds Bush Empire. Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp bring their Sunday lunchtime fun YouTube music video clips of well known rock and pop cover versions to the stage. They will also play a few Toyah solo hits. Robert Fripp was in prog rock legends King Crimson. Toyah is now aged 65 and Robert is now aged 77. They got married in 1986. They are playing a full UK tour. -------- It is stalls seated tonight, as it's an older crowd. Around 700 folks here including legendary booking agent NEIL WARNOCK. The show was on for 1 hour 55 mins , over two sets of 50 mins and 65 mins. Robert is sitting on a bar stool throughout the show, and the band also consists of two other guitarists. Toyah is full of dancing energy, and many songs had a little story attached to them. Toyah clearly still adores her husband Robert. The drummer is using an electronic drum kit and it does not sound as good as proper drums. Highlights included ' Kashmir' and 'Heroes'. A very enjoyable show. Full TOYAH & ROBERT setlist played tonight... FIRST SET Thunder in the Mountains Heart of Glass (Blondie cover) Are You Gonna Go My Way (Lenny Kravitz cover) Echo Beach ( Martha and the Muffins cover) It's a Mystery Paranoid ( Black Sabbath cover) Sunshine of Your Love (Cream cover) Tainted Love (Gloria Jones cover) Kashmir ( Led Zeppelin cover) SECOND SET Enter Sandman (Metallica cover) School's Out ( Alice Cooper cover) Sweet Child o' Mine ( Guns N’ Roses cover) Fashion (David Bowie cover) Sharp Dressed Man ( ZZ Top cover) Rockin' in the Free World (Neil Young cover) Relax ( Frankie Goes to Hollywood cover) Rebel Yell ( Billy Idol cover) I Want to Be Free Encore : "Heroes" ( David Bowie cover) I Love Rock 'n' Roll (The Arrows cover) ------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- Friday 20 October 2023. SHED SEVEN live at Shepherds Bush Empire. I have seen Shed Seven a few times since 1994. They were part of The BritPop boom in the 1990s. At the height of their popularity between 1994 and 1999 they had fifteen Top 40 singles and four Top 20 albums in the UK.The band officially broke up in 2003, but reformed for a greatest hits tour in July 2007. ----------- A fantastic atmosphere at this gig, as it's a rowdy Friday night sold out drinking crowd. SLOW READERS CLUB are on at 8pm for 30 mins. Manchester indie-rockers have released six studio albums with the 3rd (2018) and 4th (2020) both making the UK Top 20.. ...a good set. SHED SEVEN are on stage at 9pm for 1 hour 45 mins. A nice stage production , with lots of spotlights and huge vertical lighting poles. They were joined by a brass section in the second half. The crowd are well lubricated and singing loudly. There is plenty of moshing in the front stalls. Highlights included 'Going for Gold' , 'Getting Better' and stunning encores of'Disco Down' and 'Chasing Rainbows' with the crowd singing by themselves A really good show.
