Thursday 14 December 2023....3pm to 6pm.... IMMEDIATE MEDIA AWARDS live at Shepherds Bush Empire. Around 500 guests here seated in the stalls and Level 1. Staff are here from all their offices around the country. Immediate is the special interest content and platform company. The fast-growing, multi-platform media business is home to over 1,000 people across eight divisions. IMMEDIATE MEDIA own and operate some of the best-loved brands in the UK. They publish some big selling titles , including The Radio Times , Match of The Day, Good Food, Countryfile ,Pokémon and Gardeners World. At 3pm we have complimentary drinks at the bar for an hour. The dozen strong staff choir sing three songs including ' 12 Days of Christmas' as everyone joined in with it At 4pm the host comedian SOPHIE DUKER takes the stage. She does a 15 mins routine. She won Taskmaster in 2022. Then there were 25 awards quickly given out. An enjoyable afternoon. ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Wednesday 13 December 2023. GREGORY PORTER live at The Royal Albert Hall. Following his trio of sold out shows this June, Gregory will return to the Hall for one more show in December. Over the past decade, Porter has taken the world by storm by bringing contemporary jazz to the masses. Not only has the singer collected Grammy Awards for albums Liquid Spirit and Take Me To The Alley, he also made chart history with all five albums breaking into the Top 10 of the mainstream charts – three of those within the Top 5. Gregory has just released a Christmas album titled 'Christmas Wish' which features three brand new original tracks. ----------- The venue is totally rammed sold out tonight. Lots of hospitality in the boxes , as it is Christmas time. The two RAH Christmas trees are as usual up by the organ. GREGORY PORTER arrived on stage at 7.35pm and played for 2 hours 5 mins over two sets of 65 mins and 60 mins. A nice mix of his own material and Christmas related songs. Gregory arrived on stage wearing his trademark headwear. He was joined on stage by around 50 musicians , when you add his great band, three backing vocalists and full orchestra. For the last song of the first set he was joined by a 14 strong boy choir. Gregory has such a smooth and amazing effortless voice. A really good show.
