Happy Birthday to DAVID JOHANSEN who is 74 today. ----------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- Monday 08 January 2024. Teenage Cancer Trust is back! The Royal Albert Hall has been hosting concerts in aid of the charity since 2000, with the biggest names in music and comedy coming together each year to raise money to help young people face the chaos of cancer. I have been to at least one show , every year since the start. THE BOYS live at The 100 Club. With support from THE DIRTY STRANGERS + THE VULZ. I have seen The Boys over a dozen times since 1977 when they supported The Damned at The Roxy Club Jan 1977 , and then summer 1977 with The Jam + The Saints + The Boys at Hammersmith Odeon, then a headline gig at The Marquee Club. I have seen The Dirty Strangers three times. Singer Alan Clayton got Keef and Ronnie to play on some of their tracks , and in July 2013 I saw them play The Borderline Club when Stones sax player Bobby Keys played eight songs with them. I have seen The Vulz a couple of times before. --------- This was my first gig of 2024. This was the third show of The Resolution Punk Festival at this venue. Nice to see so many friends here. THE VULZ arrived on stage at 8.10pm for their 35 mins set. They played some good catchy tunes from their albums. The Vulz lend out their gleaming drum kit to the other two bands and other stage bits like guitars and amps. THE DIRTY STRANGERS arrived on stage at 8.55pm for their 40 mins set. They have a nice sound with hints of The Stones / The Faces. Their set included gems like 'Pirates Don't Get Pensions ' and 'Gold Cortina' but no time tonight to play ' 'Shepherds Bush City Limits'. THE BOYS arrived on stage at 9.50pm for their 65 mins set. The Boys still feature two original members. Lots of short and catchy tracks played in their great set. Most of them date back to their 1970s punk heyday. Setlist played tonight... T.C.P. See Ya Later Terminal Love Punk Rock Menopause Weekend U.S.I.
