Friday 12 January 2024. ANNIE NIGHTINGALE R.I.P. Veteran BBC Radio 1 presenter Annie Nightingale has died, aged 83. The radio star, who was the station’s first-ever female presenter, died on Thursday (11 January) following a short illness, according to her family, who said in a statement: “Annie was a pioneer, trailblazer and an inspiration to many. Her impulse to share that enthusiasm with audiences remained undimmed after six decades of broadcasting on BBC TV and radio globally.” Annie joined the BBC in 1970, and was still there over 50 years later. She also presented The O.G.W.T. in the 1970s when Bob Harris departed. ------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- Thursday 11 January 2024....I went to FOUR events tonight... 5pm to 6.30pm....private view .. Then they mixed Ramones songs with their own songs. The band started off just playing Ramones songs , but recently have released albums with their own material. Tonight was billed as an ' originals set' . They arrived in stage at 9.40pm for their 60 mins set. It was all their own material tonight , with no Ramones songs. Their own material was Ramones sounding and pretty good. Would have been nice to hear a few Ramones classics though.
